Approach and anchoring

Access from the Mediterranean via the Hérault river mouth at Le Grau d'Agde, then roughly 4 km upstream past the round tower of Agde. River navigation only, no tide to manage above the sea lock. Watch for current after heavy rain on the Cévennes.

Practical

Pontoon berths along the left bank of the Hérault. Visitor berths also at Agde quai visiteurs 0.1 nm north-east and at Quai François Palumbo 0.1 nm south. All shops and services in Agde old town within walking distance.

Ashore

Cathédrale Saint-Étienne d'Agde built in black basalt from the 12th century at 400 m. Musée de l'Éphèbe with the bronze Ephebe of Agde found in the Hérault river at 1.2 km. Canal du Midi junction at the Écluse Ronde of Agde at 1 km, the only round lock of the canal.
