Approach and anchoring
Sand bottom, good holding. Shelter from NW through N to NE and from W, the common sectors for Brest westerlies and northerly squalls. Open to SE swell coming up from the Goulet. Tidal streams in the rade can reach 3 knots at springs; plan arrivals near slack water. Brest-Marina du Château is 1.8 nm NE.
Practical
No facilities at the anchorage. Brest-Marina du Château at 1.8 nm NE has 625 berths, fuel pontoon, water, electricity, showers and a boatyard with travel lifts.
Ashore
Château de Brest, seat of the Musée National de la Marine, sits above the marina and dates from the Roman castellum of the 3rd century. Océanopolis aquarium is a 25-minute walk east at Port du Moulin Blanc, with polar, tropical and Breton biodiversity pavilions. Ferry link from the château to the Recouvrance quarter across the Penfeld.
