Guide
Approach and anchoring
Elliott Key lies on the western edge of Hawk Channel, south of Miami. Anchor over sand off the key, where holding is good. The anchorage is open to the west, towards Biscayne Bay. The National Park Service maintains a marked anchorage off the northern end of the key.
Practical
Biscayne is a national park: anchoring is permitted on sand but not over seagrass or coral, and the no-services rule means boats must arrive fully provisioned.
Ashore
Elliott Key Harbour, 1.7 nm to the south, has a 66-berth dock and campsites run by the National Park Service for an overnight fee, with no fuel or provisions on the key. The park protects coral reefs and mangrove shoreline, with snorkelling over the reefs offshore.
