Approach and anchoring
Shallow entrance with 1.5 m at high water and around 0.75 m at low water, so boats with more than 1.22 m draught cannot enter. Approach from the west across Biscayne Bay. VHF 9.
Practical
Sixteen slips with space for two boats each side of the dock. Twenty-five US dollar overnight docking fee including a campsite, paid through the Recreation.gov app. Drinking water, cold showers and flush toilets ashore. No fuel, no power.
Ashore
Spite Highway hiking trail runs seven miles up the spine of the island through tropical hardwood hammock. Picnic area and campground next to the harbour. Snorkelling on the reef on the ocean side, a fifteen minute walk across the island.
