Approach and anchoring
Entrance from the south between the Men ar Groas rocks to the east and the Karreg Kreiz ledge to the west, both buoyed. Channel dredged to 2 m, drying at the inner quays on large spring tides. Strong cross-currents on the ebb. VHF 9.
Practical
32 visitor and resident berths managed by the municipality of Plobannalec-Lesconil, water on the quay, no fuel berth. Bakery, grocery and fishmongers in the village within 300 m. Fresh landings from the inshore trawlers sold at the criée in the afternoon.
Ashore
GR 34 coastal path runs along the shore towards Le Guilvinec at 4 km west and Loctudy at 6 km east. Pointe de Lesconil and its light, a 17 m white tower built in 1921, at 500 m on foot. Haliotika fisheries discovery centre in Le Guilvinec explains the local langoustine fishery.
History
Lesconil was one of the main sardine and tuna ports of the Pays Bigouden in the first half of the 20th century, with canneries supplying Paris and London. The fleet has shifted to inshore trawling for langoustines and hake since the 1980s.
