Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the SW via the buoyed channel of the Pont-l'Abbé river between Loctudy and Île-Tudy, keeping clear of the oyster beds to the east. Anchor on sand inside the estuary, clear of the fairway used by Loctudy fishing boats. Protected on all sides except the SSE opening of the river mouth. VHF channel 9.
Practical
About 107 moorings on buoys managed by the municipality. Water available ashore. Loctudy marina lies 0.3 NM SW with fuel, diesel, showers and chandlery. Shops, bakery and market in Île-Tudy village, under 300 m from the landing.
Ashore
Passenger shuttle between Île-Tudy and Loctudy runs year-round. Sandy beach of Teven Ar Ven on the south side of the peninsula, 400 m from the mooring. GR 34 coastal path runs the full length of the peninsula toward Sainte-Marine. Archipelago of the Glenan lies 0.4 NM SW of the refuge reference point, reached in around 10 NM offshore.
History
Île-Tudy was an island until the 19th century, joined to the mainland by coastal silting and the diversion of the Pont-l'Abbé river, which silted the former northern channel between 1820 and 1860.
