Approach and anchoring
The western shore drops steeply onto rock with little holding. Approach parallel to the coast; the sector lies within the regulated perimeter of the lake managed by the Syndicat Mixte du Lac du Bourget, where anchoring is not permitted to protect the lakebed and the water catchment.
Practical
No anchoring allowed. Shelter in the marked zones of Charpignat 1.2 NM S or the Petit Port d'Aix-les-Bains 1.4 NM NE. Both provide mooring berths, water and fuel pontoons on the lake, the largest natural lake wholly within France at 44 km² of surface.
Ashore
The Abbaye royale de Hautecombe, founded in the 12th century and burial place of the House of Savoy, stands on the opposite western shore 2 NM to the NW. Trails of the Chaîne de l'Épine rise directly from the Bégets shoreline. Aix-les-Bains thermal town lies 2 km by road from the Petit Port.
