Guide

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the south along the coast of the Petite Camargue. No dedicated marks; use the Espiguette lighthouse, a 27 m tower commissioned in 1869, as landmark. Holding on sand over a gently shelving bottom. Shelter from N winds blowing off the land, fully exposed to the sea breeze and SE swell.

Practical

Forain mooring, no services. Supplies at Port Camargue marina 3.5 NM NW, with 5 000 berths, the largest marina in Europe by capacity, or at Le Grau-du-Roi fishing harbour 4.3 NM N.

Ashore

The Plage de l'Espiguette stretches over 10 km, inside the site classé of the Petite Camargue and part of the Natura 2000 zone. Dunes shelter flamingos and nesting terns. Nearest shops in Le Grau-du-Roi, 4 km by dinghy plus coastal walk.
