Approach and anchoring
Short approach from the sea between the two jetties of Le Grau-du-Roi. Swing bridge openings follow a seasonal timetable set by the town, listen on VHF 9. Narrow fairway with commercial fishing traffic, keep clear of returning trawlers.
Practical
Holding on rock is uncertain, buoys often occupied in summer. Port Camargue marina lies 1.2 NM SW with over 5,000 berths, fuel and all services. Shops, fish market and restaurants line the canal quays within a few minutes walk.
Ashore
Fish auction on the rive gauche quay, daily late morning. Seaquarium aquarium 600 m west along the beach. Fortified town of Aigues-Mortes 6 km up the canal, ramparts built under Louis IX for the departure of the Seventh Crusade in 1248.
