Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach at half tide or above. The harbour dries at low water and is used mainly by shallow-draught boats and local fishing craft. Shelter from Fort Boyard to the west is partial. Beware of oyster beds north and south of the approach channel.
Practical
Limited visitor berths, mostly local moorings. Water on the quay. Châtelaillon-Plage lies 2.7 NM SE and La Rochelle Port des Minimes 3.3 NM NW for fuel, repairs and full services.
Ashore
Pointe du Chay and its low limestone shore are within walking distance north of the harbour, with a marked coastal path towards Angoulins village and the beach at Les Chirats. Shops and bakery in Angoulins centre about 1 km inland.
