Guide

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the south-east, staying clear of the oyster park markers that line the island's southern shore. Sand, rock and mud holding, so set the anchor carefully and check the scope. Sheltered from W through SE, fully exposed to N and NE winds.

Practical

Forain anchorage with no services. Nearest refuges are the Rade de l'île d'Aix at 1,1 NM SW and Châtelaillon-Plage at 3,5 NM NE in case the wind shifts north.

Ashore

Sandy swimming beach backed by the Rivedoux-Plage seafront. Bakery and small groceries in Rivedoux village, around 800 m inland. Cycle path along the old railway line to La Flotte and Saint-Martin-de-Ré.
