Guide
Approach and anchoring
Enter via the Goulet de Fromentine between the mainland and the southern tip of Noirmoutier. Strong tidal streams run through the Goulet at spring tides. Sand banks shift, follow the buoyed channel and time the entry around high water. Fromentine port lies 1.1 nautical miles west, Port du Bec 3.2 nautical miles north-east.
Practical
Drying berths on piles and pontoons. Mud bottom, the port dries at low water. Water on the pontoons, shops in La Barre-de-Monts village a short walk away.
Ashore
Passerelle de Fromentine and the dune forest of Pays de Monts on the ocean side, 1 km across the spit. Oyster beds of the Baie de Bourgneuf visible at low water. Passage du Gois, the tidal causeway to Noirmoutier, is 8 km north by road.
