Approach and anchoring
Strong tidal stream in the Goulet, up to 4 knots on springs. Work the tide, slack water is the safer window. Buoyed channel, watch the sand banks that shift each winter. Shelter from NE, E, SW, S and SE. Exposed to W and NW.
Practical
No services at the anchorage. Fromentine harbour is 0.2 nm W, with water, fuel and the passenger ferry to Île d'Yeu. Le Pont Neuf mooring area lies 0.9 nm E towards the Noirmoutier bridge.
Ashore
Fromentine beach and the Forêt domaniale des Pays de Monts run south along the coast. The Passage du Gois, the tidal causeway to Noirmoutier, lies 8 km north by road and can only be crossed at low water. Île d'Yeu ferry terminal is on the quay at Fromentine.
