Approach and anchoring
Enter the Bassin via the Passes, following the buoyed channel which shifts each year according to the latest SHOM survey. The anchorage lies east of the Banc du Mimbeau. Mud bottom, holding reliable once set. Shelter from NW through N to SW; fully open to the east across the Bassin.
Practical
Anchor off in 2 to 4 metres at low water on neaps, keeping clear of the oyster parks marked by withies. No pontoon for visitors. Bakery, grocer and a few restaurants within 400 metres in the village. Club Nautique de Claouey lies 1.7 nm NE for fuel and assistance.
Ashore
Cycle path running the full length of the Cap Ferret peninsula passes behind the beach, linking Claouey 2 km north to the Phare du Cap Ferret 12 km south. Village oyster shacks along the foreshore sell Arcachon oysters straight from the parks.
