Approach and anchoring
Approach from the main channel of Arcachon Bay keeping clear of the oyster parks marked by wooden stakes. Sand bottom with good holding. Sheltered from N to W winds, fully open to the SE where the bay fetch builds quickly. Strong tidal streams on the ebb, check the tide before anchoring.
Practical
Forain anchorage, no services on the water. The small boat harbour of Le Canon lies 0.2 NM to the SW for a dinghy landing. Port de la Vigne sits 1.6 NM to the SW for a fallback berth.
Ashore
Oyster shacks of Le Canon village sell local huîtres du Bassin d'Arcachon directly on the quay. Ocean beach of Plage de l'Horizon 1.2 km west across the peninsula by footpath. Phare du Cap Ferret and its 258 steps 4 km south by bike along the Vélodyssée cycle route.
