Guide
Approach and anchoring
Access from the Golfe du Morbihan by the rivière d'Auray, then a fork to the NE into the rivière du Bono at Kerisper. Strong tidal streams in the gulf entrance, plan the passage around slack water. Channel narrow and winding, buoyed. Maximum draught 2.5 m. VHF channel 9.
Practical
428 berths on pontoons, capitainerie on the east bank. Water and electricity at each berth, diesel on the fuel pontoon. Boatyard with 30-tonne travel lift, winter storage ashore. Bakery, grocer and restaurants in the village 200 m from the harbour.
Ashore
Old suspension bridge of 1840 spans the river just upstream of the port, now reserved for pedestrians and cyclists. Cromlech of Kergonan and the alignments of Carnac are 12 km west by road. Auray Saint-Goustan, 3 km upriver, retains its 15th-century stone bridge and merchant quays.
History
Le Bono was a centre for oyster dredging and coastal trade until the 1950s, with a fleet of forbans du Bono, sloop-rigged workboats that have been revived by local heritage associations since the 1990s.
