Approach and anchoring
Sand holding. Shelter from W, E, SW, S and SE; open to the N and NE where the Pertuis Breton fetch builds. Approach by day only, beware of drying banks that flank the harbour entrance of La Flotte to the SE.
Practical
Mooring on buoy, pick up and pay at La Flotte-en-Ré harbour 0.2 NM SE. The harbour dries at low water and has water, power and all shore services inside. Saint-Martin-de-Ré harbour, 2 NM NW, is the deep-water alternative.
Ashore
Medieval market hall of La Flotte from the 11th century at 300 m from the harbour, listed building and daily covered market. Fort La Prée, built in 1625, at 1.5 km W along the coast path. Beach of La Clavette immediately W of the harbour.
History
La Flotte-en-Ré is member of the Plus Beaux Villages de France association. The market hall is one of the oldest still in use on the Atlantic coast, documented since the Middle Ages.
