Approach and anchoring
Entrance from the west, buoyed channel dredged and marked by red and green lateral marks. Approach exposed to Atlantic swell, tricky in strong W to NW winds. Keep clear of fishing fleet movements at dawn and dusk. Maximum draught 2 m in the leisure basin.
Practical
Fuel berth in the harbour. Visitor pontoon managed by the port authority. Fish auction hall, ship chandlery and boatyard on site. Bakery, grocery and restaurants along the quai des Pêcheurs.
Ashore
Covered fish market open each afternoon when the fleet returns. Coastal footpath GR 360 runs along the dunes north and south of the harbour. Plage de la Perroche 2 km south, backed by pine forest.
History
The harbour was built up from a small fishing cove in the 1950s and enlarged in 1972 and 1989 to host the deep-sea trawler fleet.
