Approach and anchoring
Access through the Perrotine channel, well buoyed. Lock opens around high water +/- 2 h. Strong tidal currents in the Pertuis d'Antioche outside the channel. Max draught 2.2 m. VHF channel 9.
Practical
180 berths in the wet basin. Diesel at the fuel berth. Water and electricity on pontoons. Bakery, grocery and restaurants on the quay. Passenger ferries to Fort Boyard and Île d'Aix from the port.
Ashore
Forêt domaniale des Saumonards pine forest starts at the port, with marked trails and a beach on the north side at 600 m. Fort Boyard, built 1804 to 1857, visible 5 km offshore, no landing allowed. Village of Saint-Georges-d'Oléron at 4 km inland.
