Approach and anchoring
Approach from the E through the Pertuis d'Antioche. Large sandy bay with gently shelving bottom, anchor in 3 to 5 m over sand. Sheltered from W, SW, S and SE. Open to the N and NE, uncomfortable with wind against the strong tidal stream of the pertuis.
Practical
Daytime anchorage in settled weather. No services at the anchorage. Port du Douhet 1.2 nm to the W has 280 berths behind a lock and dries at low water. Chenal de la Perrotine 2.7 nm to the SE.
Ashore
Forêt des Saumonards pine forest backs the bay, cycle paths and sentier du littoral through the dunes. Plage de la Maleconche runs 3 km along the shore. Fort Boyard visible offshore to the north between Île d'Oléron and Île d'Aix.
