Approach and anchoring
Entry at all tides for draughts up to 2,5 m. Approach from the west leaving the Pierre Moine cardinal to the south, then head for the green and red pier lights. Sea breaks on the reefs of Le Martroger to the north-west, keep the cardinal mark clear. VHF 9.
Practical
Visitor pontoons on the eastern side of the basin. Water, electricity, fuel berth, crane 27 t, boatyard and careening area. Capitainerie with WC and showers. Fish auction and trawler fleet on the western quay. Supermarket at 300 m, restaurants along the quay.
Ashore
Plage des Lutins at 400 m east of the port. Coastal path GR 80 runs directly from the harbour towards the Pointe du Devin. Market in Noirmoutier-en-l'Île, with its castle and salt market, at 7 km to the south-east.
History
L'Herbaudière became the island's main fishing port in the 19th century, taking over from the silted basin of Noirmoutier-en-l'Île. The outer breakwaters were extended during the 1970s to create the present marina alongside the trawler basin.
