Anchorage off the north side of Île Saint-Riom in the Bay of Paimpol, Côtes-d'Armor, northern Brittany.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the north through the channels of the Bréhat archipelago. Strong tidal streams run across the area and the bay dries extensively at low water on spring tides. Navigate on a rising tide and keep clear of the drying rocks that extend north of the island.
Practical
Forain anchorage with no shore facilities. Sand bottom gives fair holding. Protection from E and SE winds. Exposed to the prevailing W and NW. Nearest shelter at Port Lazo 2.3 NM SE and at Port Adhoc 2.4 NM W.
Ashore
Île Saint-Riom sits in the Paimpol marine inshore area. The town of Paimpol lies 3 NM south-west with all shops and a heritage fishing quay. The GR34 coastal path runs along the bay shore near Pointe de l'Arcouest, the embarkation point for Île de Bréhat.
