Approach and anchoring
Enter the West River from Chesapeake Bay between Curtis Point and Cedar Point, then follow the river west past Galesville. The marina is on the north shore at Whitestake Point. VHF 9 to call the office.
Practical
Around 270 berths, including covered slips, plus mooring buoys. Diesel and petrol on the fuel berth, water, shore power, showers, laundry. Full boatyard with travel lift, hard standing, hull, rig and engine work.
History
The Hartge family started building and repairing boats in 1865 on the Shady Side shore of the West River, then moved the yard across the river to Whitestake Point in 1879. Ernest Hartge designed and built the Chesapeake 20 class still raced on the bay today. One of the oldest family-owned boatyards in the United States.
