Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached by turning upstream where the ICW meets the St Johns River near Jacksonville. The river is wide and well marked this far up. The Shands Bridge upriver carries an air draught of 44 feet, which marks the practical limit for sailing yachts.
Practical
Mixed bottom of sand, mud, rock and weed; holding varies, so set the anchor with care. Fresh water available. Sheltered from the western and southern quarters. Green Cove Springs Marina lies 0.9 mile east with 140 wet berths and full repair facilities; Black Creek Marina is 3.6 miles north-west.
