Approach and anchoring

Access from the sea via the Arzal dam lock, which operates to a published timetable. From the lock, follow the marked channel up the Vilaine. The river is fresh water above Arzal. Maximum draught of 4 metres allows most cruising yachts. Call Foleux on VHF 9 for berth allocation.

Practical

Around 400 berths on pontoons plus visitor places. Water and electricity on the pontoons. Fuel, sanitary block with showers, boatyard with travel lift on site. The village of Foleux itself has a restaurant by the water and little else, so restocking is done at Nivillac or La Roche-Bernard.

Ashore

Towpath along the Vilaine for walking and cycling. La Roche-Bernard and its old town sit about 3.6 nautical miles downstream, reachable by dinghy or by road, with shops, restaurants and a weekly market. Regional nature park of the Brière marshes lies within 25 km by car.
