Approach and anchoring
Enter the Patuxent River from the Chesapeake Bay and feel your way towards Solomons. Holding is good in mud. The anchorage lies open to winds from N, NE and E, so shift to a creek berth if a northerly sets in.
Practical
West Basin Marina is 2 nm to the SW and Calvert Marina 2.1 nm to the NW, both with fuel, fresh water and shore power. The shops and restaurants of Solomons Island are a short dinghy ride away.
Ashore
The Calvert Marine Museum lies along the Solomons waterfront and includes the 1883 Drum Point screw-pile lighthouse and exhibits on Bay fossils and estuary life. Solomons Island has a riverside walk and eating places within easy reach by tender.
