Approach and anchoring

The cove gives all-round shelter, with protection from north-west through south-east. The bottom is mud and weed, which holds well. A 6-knot speed limit applies in these waters.

Practical

Water is available. Wards Marine Railway lies about 0.3 miles west and Calvert Marina about 0.7 miles south-west. The town of Solomons, a Chesapeake boating centre, is a short hop away with fuel, provisions and waterfront restaurants.

Ashore

The Calvert Marine Museum, in Solomons, covers the maritime history of the Patuxent River and Chesapeake Bay, along with the area's fossil record. The Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center is also within easy reach by tender or on foot from the town.
