Approach and anchoring

Approach from the north on the open lake. Entrance between two short jetties. Maximum draught 2.3 m. VHF channel 9. Beware of the ferry traffic from the CGN Évian to Lausanne landing stage immediately east of the harbour.

Practical

Six visitor berths, very limited capacity. Water and electricity at the pontoon. Capitainerie open in season. Full town services within 200 m: bakery, supermarket, restaurants, railway station.

Ashore

Funiculaire d'Évian runs from the lakefront up to the old town, free of charge. Source Cachat, the historic mineral water spring, sits 400 m inland on the rue Nationale. Palais Lumière, the former thermal baths converted into an exhibition venue, stands 300 m east of the harbour.

History

Évian-les-Bains developed as a thermal spa town in the 19th century around its mineral springs. The town hosted the Évian Conference in 1938 on Jewish refugees, and the 1962 negotiations that led to the Évian Accords ending the Algerian War.
