Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south through the Plateau des Mâts de Penerf. Pick up one of the buoys laid off the beach in 2 to 4 metres at low water of spring tides. Sheltered from NW round to NE, fully open to the south and SW onshore wind and swell. Best left in calm or offshore weather.
Practical
No services on the buoys. Port de Pénerf lies 1.5 NM W with a few visitor moorings; Anse Dibenn 1.8 NM W is a sheltered anchorage. Shops, bakery and supermarket are in the village of Damgan, 500 m inland from the beach.
Ashore
The long sand beach of Damgan stretches 3 km between the pointe de Kervoyal and the pointe de Penerf. The GR 34 coastal path runs along the top of the beach. The Pénerf oyster beds, worked on both sides of the river, produce the huître de Pénerf, a plate oyster grown on the muddy flats.
