Guide
Approach and anchoring
Access via the Canal latéral à la Marne. Keep 1.80 m draught and 3.50 m air draught typical of the Freycinet gauge. The junction with the Canal de l'Aisne à la Marne lies just north of the quay and is signposted. No tidal constraints.
Practical
Eight berths alongside a concrete quay. Water and electricity on bornes, free short stay traditionally managed by Voies navigables de France. Bakery and small grocery in the village within 300 m. Fuel only at commercial stations in Aÿ or Châlons-en-Champagne.
Ashore
Champagne Grand Cru villages of Bouzy and Ambonnay on the Montagne de Reims at 5 to 7 km. Canal towpath open to cyclists as part of the EuroVelo 19 Meuse à vélo feeder. Épernay and its Avenue de Champagne 15 km west by road.
History
The village sits on the Canal latéral à la Marne opened in 1845 to double the unreliable river navigation. The junction with the Canal de l'Aisne à la Marne, completed in 1866, made Condé a transshipment point for Champagne wine barrels heading north to Reims and Belgium.
