Approach and anchoring
Reach via the Canal de l'Aisne à la Marne. Condé-sur-Marne and the junction with the Canal latéral à la Marne lie 3,5 NM to the south-west. Tours-sur-Marne on the lateral canal is 5,3 NM away. VNF schedule applies.
Practical
Five berths, bollards and mooring rings along the bank. The village of Vaudemange sits 800 m from the halt with a bakery and a communal water tap. No fuel.
Ashore
Grand cru Champagne villages of Verzy and Verzenay within 5 km, with houses Pommery, Mumm and smaller growers opening cellars by appointment. Réserve biologique des Faux de Verzy in the Parc naturel régional de la Montagne de Reims, about 7 km south, a beech forest of over 800 twisted trees known as faux. GR145 Via Francigena passes through the village.
History
The Canal de l'Aisne à la Marne was opened in stages from 1866 to give Reims access to the Marne. Vaudemange sits on the final bief before the Condé-sur-Marne junction.
