Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached from Puget Sound through the Chittenden Locks and the Salmon Bay reach, then up the Fremont Cut. The marina sits on the south bank of the canal, immediately west of the Fremont Bridge. Fresh water, no tide once past the locks.
Practical
Moorage slips up to about 40 feet. Rates run lower than berths directly on Lake Union itself. No fuel berth on site. Phone 206-282-6767.
History
The site sits on a cove formed in March 1914 when a dam break during construction of the Lake Washington Ship Canal flooded the property of boatbuilder Waldo B. Staples. The cove became his livelihood and is now the marina office.
