Approach and anchoring

Approach from the south, line of sight into the cove. Limestone walls drop steeply to the water, sound carefully before dropping the anchor. Inside the national park, posidonia meadows are protected, use the sand patches only.

Practical

Sand and algae bottom. Shelter from SW, S and SE winds behind the cliffs. Exposed to the mistral from NW that funnels down the calanque and to the east wind. Port des Goudes 2,6 nm NW and Port de la Madrague 3,3 nm N offer refuge.

Ashore

Inside the Parc national des Calanques created in 2012, covering 520 km² of land and sea around Marseille and Cassis. Coastal footpath on the Marseilleveyre massif passes above the cove, linking Callelongue to Morgiou.

History

The Marseilleveyre massif and the calanques have been walked since the 19th century by the Excursionnistes Marseillais, founded in 1897, one of the oldest hiking clubs in France.
