Approach and anchoring
Sheltered from NW, N and W winds. Exposed to the E and SE; a libeccio swell wrapping round the coast can make the anchorage uncomfortable. Approach in clear water; watch for isolated rocks close to the shoreline and for posidonia patches among the sand.
Practical
Mouillage forain on sand in 3 to 6 metres. No services. Anchoring on posidonia is prohibited in Corsican waters and fined, pick a clear sand patch. Porto-Vecchio marina is 3.4 NM north for fuel, water, chandlery and provisions.
Ashore
Access to the coast is via private paths and a short tender trip. Porto-Vecchio old town, on its granite promontory above the gulf, holds a genoese citadel dating from the 1540s and daily shops and restaurants around place de la République.
