Guide
Approach and anchoring
Entry to the Ria d'Etel crosses a shifting sand bar at the mouth, where a pilot service on VHF 13 guides visiting yachts across at the top of the tide. Once inside, follow the marked channel upriver. Strong tidal streams of up to 4 knots on springs.
Practical
Mooring on buoy, mud holds well. Open to the SW fetch down the ria. Closest refuges are Port Niscop 2 nm SW and Magouer 2.9 nm SW if conditions deteriorate.
Ashore
The ria shoreline has footpaths linking the oyster parks and the village of Saint-Cado, a chapel-topped islet about 1 nm from Beg Bran. Oysters from the ria are sold at the huts along the shore.
