Approach and anchoring
On the navigable Marne between locks Saint-Thibault downstream and Vaires upstream. Gauge of the river Marne: draught up to 2.20 m, air draught 3.70 m under the lowest bridge. Current moderate, stronger after winter rainfall.
Practical
Quay along the right bank near the town centre. Water and electricity at the pontoon. No fuel. Bakeries, supermarkets and restaurants within 300 m in central Lagny.
Ashore
Medieval centre of Lagny around the former Notre-Dame-des-Ardents abbey, founded in the 7th century and partly rebuilt in the 13th. Saturday market on Place de la Fontaine at 200 m. RER E station at 400 m, Paris Haussmann-Saint-Lazare in 35 minutes. Disneyland Paris at 12 km.
History
Lagny was one of the six medieval Champagne fair towns from the 12th century, gathering merchants from Flanders, Italy and the Rhineland before the fairs declined in the 14th century.
