Approach and anchoring
Enter the Toulon outer roadstead from the SE between Cap Cepet and the Grande Passe, then head W into the bay. Mussel and oyster farms occupy the inner half of the bay, buoys mark their limits. Keep clear of the French Navy area off Saint-Mandrier to the SW. Exposed to the N wind, the mistral, which funnels down the roadstead.
Practical
Sand bottom, holding good. Protection from W, E, SW, S and SE, open to the N. Tender landing at Port Pin Rolland 0.2 NM S for water, diesel and chandlery and at Le Lazaret 0.3 NM W for the shellfish farmers' quay.
Ashore
Mussels and oysters of the Lazaret are sold fresh at the Tamaris shellfish farmers' stalls along the bay, a 400 year old shellfish farming tradition. Corniche Tamaris coastal road leads in 2 km to the Villa Tamaris cultural centre and in 3 km to Les Sablettes beach on the Seyne side.
