Approach and anchoring

Approach through the Petite Rade de Toulon under traffic separation rules, keeping clear of naval movements and the main shipping channel. Sand and mud bottom with good holding. Sheltered from N, NW, NE, W, S and SW by the coastline and the surrounding hills. Exposed to E winds.

Practical

Saint-Louis du Mourillon marina sits 0.8 nm to the west for berths, water and services. Toulon Darse Nord lies 1.1 nm NW as a larger alternative with full services.

Ashore

Mourillon beaches within walking distance, with restaurants and shops along the boulevard. Fort Saint-Louis and Tour Royale coastal fortifications close by. Toulon city centre and the naval museum accessible by bus along the Littoral-Frédéric-Mistral.

History

The Mourillon district was the site of Toulon's coastal defences. The Tour Royale, built between 1514 and 1524 on order of Louis XII, still stands at the western end of the anchorage.
