Approach and anchoring
The marina sits on Woodcleft Canal, off Freeport's Nautical Mile waterfront. Access to the Atlantic is through Jones Inlet. John Vidas Marine Services lies 0.2 miles north and Mako Marina 0.2 miles east.
Practical
One of the largest enclosed marinas on Long Island, with indoor and outdoor dry storage, wet berths, maintenance and repair. The Nautical Mile, lined with restaurants and shops, runs along the canal.
History
Al Grover bought the South Main Street property in 1969 and built it into a major small-boat dealership and marina. In 1985 he crossed the Atlantic from Long Island to Portugal in an outboard-powered boat.
