Anchorage off Villaggio Piras, in a long narrow bay on La Maddalena island, off north-east Sardinia. Sand bottom with patches of posidonia. Sheltered from the NW to W.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Anchor in about 5 m on sand with posidonia patches. Holding is good. One spot lies about 200 m south of the rock to starboard on entering the bay. Between the sailing school and the village there is about 5 m. The low surrounding hills let the wind through. In June 2022 rock and houses gave good shelter in 30 kn from 240 to 330 degrees. A strong northerly finds no shelter here, though an anchor once held through three days of one.
Practical
A Conad supermarket stands at the head of the bay, 20 minutes away by dinghy. Motorboat traffic was light in August 2025.
