Approach and anchoring

The entrance is by a channel and can be awkward, so follow the leading line in. The channel shoals near low water on big tidal coefficients, so keep to the middle and, with a 2 metre draught, avoid low water. Inside it is well protected, the basin ringed by blocks of flats that block the northerlies. The long visitor pontoon is clearly marked, and the fuel berth is to starboard in the entrance channel, just before it.

Practical

Payment is by QR code at the berth through the I-Marina app; one 10.8 metre boat paid about 32 euros a night. The sanitary block is modern and very clean, but there is no water on the visitor pontoon and no waste sorting.

Ashore

Blankenberge is a lively North Sea resort with plenty of restaurants and a beach, its Belle Epoque seafront reminiscent of the Breton resorts. Bruges is easy to reach by bicycle or by train.
