Public berthing in Dewey, the only town on Culebra, on the narrow isthmus between Bahía de Sardinas and Ensenada Honda.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Boats reach Dewey through the reef-bound, buoyed entrance of Ensenada Honda. The canal through town carries about 1.2 metres, has power cables at 4.5 metres and a lift bridge that does not open, so only small powerboats and tenders use it.
Practical
Multihulls accepted. Dewey has groceries, restaurants and golf-cart rental. Water and rubbish disposal are at the town dock, and diesel comes by jerry can from the fuel station by the bridge. Arriving yachts clear in with US Customs and Border Protection by phone.
Ashore
The ferry dock at the west end of the canal serves Ceiba on the main island. Flamenco beach is 3.6 km north of town.
