Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the Goulet de Brest, then head south towards the northern shore of the Crozon peninsula. Sand and mud give good holding, enough to ride out a westerly gale, though the anchor occasionally lifts old cable or debris. Sheltered from SW, W and NW; exposed to the east across the Rade. Watch the strong tidal streams in the Goulet, up to 5 knots on springs, and the shoaling depths close inshore.
Practical
Open anchorage with no services. Camaret marinas 3.2 to 3.4 nm SW for fuel, water, repairs and provisioning.
Ashore
Land by dinghy on the pebble beach or at the southern pier of Roscanvel. The village is a 20 minute walk away, where a shop by the church sells bread, milk and basics, with a post office and a bar-crêperie. A coastal path leads round the point to the Fort des Capucins in about 35 minutes.
