Approach and anchoring

Approach from the west into the Gulf of Valinco, leaving the Scoglio Longo rock to starboard. Entrance marked by red and green lit pier heads. The marina basin is small and shallow, around 1.8 m in places, so many larger yachts lie on the managed buoys outside, the outer T-pontoon taking deeper boats. Anchoring is prohibited along the buoy fields stretching south and east. Exposure to westerly swell inside the gulf when libeccio blows. VHF 9 for the harbour office.

Practical

211 berths, sanitary blocks with showers, diving centre on the quay. The fuel berth is often out of service, so fuel at Propriano or carry it from town. Power and water on the pontoons are patchy, bring a long lead. Book a buoy by phone or VHF; buoys run about 16 to 33 euros by size, the marina more. A small Spar about 20 m from the beach has fresh but pricey provisions. Propriano 5.2 NM E for full provisioning.

Ashore

Sandy beach of Porto Pollo runs immediately west of the port. Scoglio Longo and Capu di Muro dive sites reached by club boats. Bars and restaurants line the quay, Casa Bianca and the L'Escale hotel among them. A bus runs to Ajaccio, out at 11am and back at 4pm. Prehistoric site of Filitosa with its carved menhir-statues 12 km inland by road. Sartène and its Pisan-era granite houses 20 km south.
