Guide
Approach and anchoring
Enter the Gulf of Valinco between Campomoro to the south and the Pointe de Porto Pollo to the north. Anchor off the river mouth clear of the Pecorella shoals. Shelter from N, NE and E winds; open to the SW libeccio which builds a heavy swell in the gulf. In season this is a busy kitesurfing and wing spot, with jet skis and learners crossing the anchorage, so it can be restless by day; for quieter nights, shift to the anchorage off Abartello just to the south, which has two restaurants within reach. Porto Pollo 1.9 nm W, Propriano 3.3 nm SE as refuges.
Practical
Anchor on sand in 4 to 7 metres, good holding. No services on site. Porto Pollo village to the west has a small marina, fuel berth, water, showers and a handful of shops and restaurants open from April to October.
Ashore
The Taravo delta is classified as a Natura 2000 site, with coastal dunes and a brackish lagoon. Beach of Tenutella within dinghy range. The prehistoric site of Filitosa, with its carved menhirs from the second millennium BC, lies about 7 km inland from Porto Pollo.
