Marina of 363 berths on the north edge of Bastia, built in the 1990s between the commercial ferry port and the district of Pietranera.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the east. The entrance is narrow with room for only one boat at a time, so check that nothing is coming out and hold the middle, deep keels especially. Yellow buoys mark a swimming beach to leave to starboard on the way in. Entrance jetties carry red and green sector lights. Maximum draught 3.4 m at the outer pontoons, and the marina is shallow in places. Keep clear of the ferry lane south of the breakwater when ferries manoeuvre. The high seawall gives good shelter. VHF 9 for the harbour office.
Practical
363 berths, visitor capacity on pontoon D, reception until about 17:00 so moor alongside the pier on a later arrival. The 24 hour self-service fuel dock at the entrance keeps fenders and lines ready. Water and electricity on all berths. Showers, laundry, chandlery, crane and a marine repair yard on site. An Auchan supermarket is right across the street, about 200 m, with a laundrette nearby. Restaurants and bars along the marina. Expect around 68 euros for a 12 m boat. Bastia city centre and the Vieux Port are 1.5 km south on foot.
Ashore
The Cap Corse peninsula road starts immediately north of the port and follows the east coast for 40 km to Macinaggio. The church of San Martino di Lota perches on the hill above Pietranera, 3 km north of the marina.
History
The marina was opened in 1994 to relieve pressure on the older Vieux Port further south. It occupies land reclaimed at the former tobacco factory site, which gave the district its name.
