Anchorage off a sand beach on the east coast of Cap Corse, 3 nautical miles north of Bastia.

Approach and anchoring

Open roadstead on sand, but the clear sand lies only right in front of the beach and gives way to weed further out, so drop close in. A swimming zone buoyed about 400 metres off the beach must be left clear and gives little shelter outside it. Sheltered from west through northwest by the Cap Corse ridge, exposed to easterlies and to the libeccio swell that wraps the cape and rolls the anchorage in any southerly. Approach is straightforward from the south, a white Virgin statue on the church steeple marking the spot from seaward.

Practical

No facilities. Closest refuge at Port d'Erbalunga 1.1 nautical miles to the northeast, or Port Toga in Bastia 3 nautical miles to the south for fuel, water and provisioning.

Ashore

A beach restaurant sits behind the anchorage and a small shop can be reached easily by tender. A bus to Bastia runs about every hour. Erbalunga village at 1.1 nautical miles, with its Genoese tower and a small cluster of restaurants and cafes around the old harbour. The GR sentier des douaniers coastal path runs along the shore northwards towards Sisco.
