Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the east with no offshore dangers. The bottom is sand with some Posidonia patches and a marked wreck within the anchorage. Anchoring is banned off the funfair, where electric cables run underwater; drop off the yellow buoys in about 3.5 m instead. Shelter from NW, N, W and SW, but fully open to the east, where swell builds fast when the Libeccio turns or the Levante sets in; a stern or swell anchor holds the bow into that beam sea. Keep clear of the marked swimming zone in season.
Practical
No services on site. Bastia Vieux Port 0.6 NM north takes a tender easily and is central, with fuel, water, a Super U five minutes away and a large Leclerc behind the beach. Port Toga 1.4 NM north is a larger marina with more visitor berths.
Ashore
Shingle and sand beach with seasonal bars, backed close by the coast road whose traffic carries out to the anchorage. Walk 15 minutes north along the shore to reach the Terra Vecchia district of Bastia and the Place Saint-Nicolas, a 300 m long tree lined square with cafes and a Sunday flea market.
