Approach and anchoring

Approach from the south through the Chenal du Ferlas, keeping clear of the drying rocks around Brehat and timing it near slack, as the streams run hard. Anchor outside the yellow swim-zone buoys on sand; close to shore the current eases. Depths reach 10 m and more with a tidal range up to 8 m, so allow 50 m of chain in calm and more in wind, and leave room as the boat swings right round with the tide. Shelter from N and NW off the island, exposed to S and SE. Boat traffic rolls it by day, but nights are calm.

Practical

Port de Bréhat lies 0.9 nm to the north for the main anchorage and ferry quay. Port Adhoc in Paimpol sits 3.5 nm SW on the mainland with a marina, water, diesel and full services.

Ashore

Guerzido beach is one of the few sand beaches on Brehat and sits directly ashore, with a cafe on the sand. Footpath around the south of the island to the Chapelle Saint-Michel viewpoint, 1.5 km away. Bourg de Brehat 1.2 km on foot with bakery, grocers and bar, and a market gardener selling produce on the square. No cars on the island.
