Main anchorage of Île-de-Bréhat, on the west side of the island between Bréhat and Île Logodec, Côtes-d'Armor. Much of it dries at low water.

Approach and anchoring

Mud bottom with good holding, though much of the anchorage dries towards low water and it best suits boats able to take the ground. All-round shelter thanks to surrounding islets. Strong tidal streams in the Ferlas channel to the south, up to 4 knots at springs. Approach from the north via the Kerpont channel or from the south via the Ferlas, both well buoyed. Numerous mooring buoys managed by the commune, anchoring restricted during the summer season.

Practical

No pontoon, tender ashore to the Port-Clos slipway at the south end of the island, 0.5 km walk to Bréhat village. Water on the village square. Small grocery and bakery. Passenger ferry to Pointe de l'Arcouest on the mainland runs year-round.

Ashore

Car-free island, entirely walkable. Paon lighthouse on the northern tip at 3 km across the island. Chapelle Saint-Michel with panoramic views at 1 km. Verrerie des Pen Arlan glass workshop in the former citadel at 2 km.

History

Bréhat was classified as a site inscrit in 1907, one of the earliest landscape protections in France. The Paon lighthouse, built in 1860 and rebuilt in 1949 after German demolition, marks the northern entry to the Bréhat archipelago.
